Aurora Aksnes (born June 15 on the 15th of June, 1996 from Stavanger) is a Norwegian music producer and a singer. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves was released by the label Decca Records in May 2015 getting great reviews by music journalists and media. She has previously recorded two highly-profile cover songs Half the World Away by the band Oasis for a Christmas advertisement by John Lewis and Nature Boy by Nat King Cole. Katy Perry's support for the song Runaway on her blog gave the artist some additional recognition. Make it a day to celebrate her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memory is of finding the piano in her attic then becoming enthralled by the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes, her parents May Britt Aksnes and Jan Oystein Aksnes, encouraged their daughter to learn music more as a hobby than as a job. Thus, she began writing her own songs. Her inspirations include famous writer Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in addition to her love for Bjork's style. To counter her mother's suggestion that she ought not to aim to be famous through the songs she writes, but rather be aware of the significance of them and their impact on society. The piano was her first instrument at the age of six, and began making music when she was 9 years old. It wasn't until her 14th birthday that she revealed her plans to her parents. Aurora had no idea of becoming a star. The singer says that she simply likes writing songs. She says that music is her most preferred way to feel anything.
